Following the recent success of my last inquiry concerning my air conditioning water pump, I have decided to return with a stove question.

The ignition for the stove top elements has stopped working suddenly - already checked and replaced the battery, to no avail. As I write this post, I realize that I have yet to check the ignitor on the oven.

Am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, can offer some guidance.

All the best,

Steve

Sounds like the same problem I have. The switch on the stove burner valves that run the igniter only works occasionally. I just live with it and push in the valve for the oven to get the burners to ignite (so I turn a burner on, then push in both the burner and oven valves to get a spark).

That's probably because the oven gets a lot less use. At some point it's probably going to stop working too and I'm going to need to replace the valves (or use a lighter).

that igniter is a hookey peice of S**** force ten sells it at a premium. you may be able to use a universal replacement for gas grilles.

Lee;

So the issue you have - is it with the igniter, the valve, or the switch? Strangely, on my stove the right igniter is intermittent (sometimes works, sometimes does not), and the left igniter never works. I didn't try the oven, but now wish I had. As I drive over an hour to get there it will have to wait.

Seems like your problem is the switch in the rotating handle? Please let me know.

I was having trouble finding where to buy replacement parts for the force ten, I did see one place that seemed to have an igniter box for $75, ouch!

That certainly looks like the unit, but I don't need 1000 of then, LOL!

Alibaba seems to be a wholesale distributor and I need to have a company name to join? They seem to have minimum order requirements.

I will call force ten tomorrow and see where they suggest I buy and repost.

In my case its definitely the switch in the rotating handle, the only one that works consistently is for the oven.

Yes them ignitors go bad so I keep a couple of gas lighters handy. Have one that has not had gas for years but it still has a spark and can ignite propane.

I also have the same problem. I found this on the Force Ten site. Need to try it next time I am at the boat.
"Ignition
Q: Where is the Battery for the electronic spark ignition located?
A: The battery is located underneath the door on the right stove side. The battery is a standard “AA” alkaline battery.

Q: There is no ignition spark at one of my burners. How can I light the burner?
A: There are (2) additional ways to light any burner.
1.Push straight in (do not turn) any other control knob. (The spark system is cross connected)
2.Any burner can be lit with a match or butane lighter"

Thanks much, I have confirmed both of the items above:

New battery - still no spark,
But, I can get a spark when I push in the oven knob.

$75 for parts that will likely fail within two years, so it will be lighters from now on.

FWIW - the Itasco stove on my O'day was much simpler but worked much better. The Force Ten is prettier but, doesn't work as well. Good lesson in life!!!!
