My wife got an article published in the latest issue of the magazine (March/April). The article is called Sailing with Autism and it's about our family and the trials and tribulations of sailing and spending our summers on the boat with our sons, one of which has autism.
I'm very lucky to have a family that shares my passion for sailing.

Thank you for the very enlightening and informative article. My wife and I have worked as ski instructors for many years with the New England Handicapped Sports Assoc where we have many autistic children as our clients. I'm thrilled to see how you and your family have dealt with autism.

Kudos to you and your wife for sharing your love of sailing with your boys! Good Old Boat is a great magazine and I will have to get the issue and check it out. I know it can be difficult having a child with special needs as well as rewarding too! I teach Adapted PE and work with some students on the spectrum of autism and really enjoy it. I would love to take a group of students out sailing but my administrator is having some liability issues, which I can understand but I'm still looking for a way to do it. Good luck and I can't wait to read about it! Jerry

Congrads on the publishing of her article. Its one of my fav sailing publications. I have the issue but haven't read it yet. Looking forward to the read. I've seen the challenges families have with autism and know its difficult. I'm glad you've found this avenue.

Got back from a 5 day outing on the sailboat to find G.O.B., that is always like Christmas to find it in the mailbox. Great article, it had to be hard to write it and know what to edit down because of the wealth of things that could have been covered. Excellent.

Thanks everyone, my wife wrote the article and quietly submitted it to GOB thinking she'd get rejected without anyone knowing about it. It was pretty funny hearing her squeal and laugh when she got the email saying they'd like to go with it.
The folks at Good Old Boat have been great and very supportive.

I agree, Danny, everyone on this board should already be subscribers to that magazine. Every year my wife asks me if I want to to renew, and I say, "Yes." It's usually around my birthday and the holidays anyway.:) Karen's editorials are worth the price of the mag. I've been a subscriber since Issue No. 1. I've saved 'em all. Haven't even been tempted to buy the CDs since I like a real magazine in my hands.

Well Stu, not to toot my own horn here 'cuz this is about my wife's article, but I have my own article coming out in the next issue. It's a how-to on building your own adjustable (leveling) radar tower. I'm the same way about the magazine, I go back and re-read the older ones all winter long!
