If you are thinking of doing the Newport Beach to Ensenada race this year, and have heard rumors about fees and visas that concern you, see this message from the Commodore:
Dear Racers and Friends of the Newport Ocean Sailing Association,
NOSA understands that there have been many rumors, speculation and confusion swirling around regarding potential visa and permit fees in Ensenada. Fueling this was the fact that the Coral Marina mistakenly sent out documents to some of the racers that have made early slip reservations. This has not been done in the past and Fito the dockmaster said he does not send those out to the Ensenada racers.
To set the record straight: It is NOSA's position that the racers shall not be impacted financially by any visa requirements although they may be required to check in with their passports as they have done for the past 2 years. NOSA is working with officials at the Federal and local level to come up with a solution that will satisfy both them and us. We will have more information at the end of January.
In the remote event that NOSA is not able to negotiate a satisfactory fee arrangement, NOSA would like to assure anyone who has entered, or will enter the race and wishes to withdraw, the entry fee will be refunded.
Follow us on Facebook (Newport to Ensenada Race) and let us know how we're doing, and stay up to date with the latest news from NOSA. Also, check out our new website, pre-order gear and find out all the details about this year's race at http://newporttoensenada.com.
Looking forward to a great year, and a great N2E.
Sincerely,
