Peggie, Thank you for your response from my last post (battle of the head). I am now looking into the replacement toilet for my cat 30. My question for the day is: Does it matter what the foot print is for the old unit vrs the new unit? And if so how do i get around this problem? Again, THANKS for all you do bobcat

As long as it fits...

The mounting bolt patterns aren't likely to match unless you go with an identical replacement...but depending on the age of the toilet, there's no guarantee that the current version the same toilet will match the old holes either. Pick any toilet that'll fit the space, fill the holes that don't match up, drill new ones...connect the plumbing...you're good to go. Unless it won't fit, the best toilet for the money is the RAritan PH II...or PHC, which is the same pump on a compact base to fit in a tighter space. Price is $200-250, but worth every penny to get a toilet that'll last at least 20 years if it's kept lubricated and rebuilt every 5-6 years--and won't choke on a little too much TP.

Just a hint...

no matter which head you choose (I went the Raritan PHHBII route which is the "high boy" model) mark, drill, put in lag bolts and test fit the REAR mounting holes first. Test fit the toilet as many times as it takes to get it right. Get the rear mount exactly as you want it BEFORE you even think about marking and drilling for the front holes.

What I found.....

Bobcat: I have had 4 heads in my Hunter 31 since 1987. What I found is that there are usually a couple of the holes that work. Try mounting the new unit with one of the old bolts in place. If it works for you , then you can try moving it around and see if any of the other holes line up. Be sure to fill the OLD and NEW holes with caulking. This will prevent water from getting into the plywood if/when there is water in the head area.

Just installed the Raritan on a C30

We just went through the process of replacing a Jabsco with the Raritan PHHBII in our C30. It is a tight fit but does work. We went with the hi-boy because of the "standard" size seat vs the compact. Whatever brand you choose take your time with the positioning before marking and drilling the holes (make sure the seat doesn't hit, etc). With the Raritan we had to put it at a slight angle to position it correctly. Good luck, Jim
