I posted a tread a week ago, but could not find it to post a picture. I was over at the boat this past weekend, getting it ready to launch this week and I forgot to take a picture. I searched the internet for picture of Hunter 290's and the attached picture was the best I could find and it is a litter blurry after I enlarged it, but you should get the idea of what it look line and I added text and arrows to the picture. I did attempt to take the plastic headliner down, but after takig out about 20 screws and it did not loosen up one bit, I stopped as I was not getting anywhere. I assume that there must be a trick to doing it without cutting a section out. As there are 3 different ones that are loose that would really screw up the insides. Any help would be appreciated.

Ah, I thought you had an older design. You have what is called the number 3 base. I believe there will be bolts/washers/nuts under the fiberglass toe rail. Can anyone confirm?

Phil, Thanks for the Quick reply. Any idea how to put the plastic headliner down to get access?

I would expect that there is a plate in the toe rail and that it is drill and tapped. I had the same problem. A longer bolt solved the problem. I believe that they drill and tap not only the plate, but also the fiberglass above it. If the plate is not at the right depth and the bolt is not long enough all you are grabbing is fiberglass and the treads can be easly be stripped.

Happy to say I am wrong about this: the bolts in the base are also tapped into an aluminum plate embedded in the glass. So no nut to worry about underneath. You can leave your liner in place. :)
