Last week I asked if anyone knew how to rig a single line boom preventer. I recieved some very good ideas. By chance this happened next. In the June 2002 issue of "Sail" magazine they have an articule titled "Solo Sail Handling" by Bob Silverman. He has a diagram of a very effective and simple preventer that is operated single handledly from the cockpit. This articule is really worth reading. He also goes on to explain how to safely do a gybe single handed and other sailing tips for sailing alone. Ray S/V Speedy

Boom Brake

I put one on my boom years ago. You can "feed out" the boom as you come around. Even an accidental jibe is "gentle". Best of all it also works like a vang. JW
