For those of you have not read my previous post, I got an electrical shock when inserting the rudder pin and holding on to the rear stanchion. This last weekend I got out the trusty volt meter and went a looking and this is what I found. First, I'm disappointed in Honda Marine, the electric hookup cord is not marine grade type 3 tinned wire. It's just plan old type 3, saving a little money are we? I found corrosion around the wires where they install into the Marinco female plug on the end of the wire. Also found corrosion on the male plug installed in the transom. I'm not sure if this is a accumulation of salt water on the terminals or not. I was able to measure a resistance accross the leads without any thing hooked up to it. Once I cleaned up both sides of the plugs - NO Resistance No Voltage! Will try it for real next time out.Crazy Dave told me today he has stopped using the 30amp Marinco plugs in favor of the trolling style hookups. I will have to check on these.JimS/V Java
