Follow up on compressor won't start

I removed the entire unit, took apart the module, cleaned it up, and re-installed it. One thing I noticed was the previous owner had used a very tiny guage wire to the compressor, so I pulled new larger guage wire back to the control panel. After reconnecting the unit it started no problem. The compressor came on within a few seconds. I let it run for a while but am still getting no cooling in the ice box. Any thoughts? Tim I have an Adler-Barbour model DCM-12 on my 1988 30 Catalina. When I turn the unit on, the fan comes on but I don't hear the compressor start (no vibration either). I've turned the thermostat up and down and left it running for 15-20 minutes but I still get no cooling. I've even jumped out the thermostat but no such luck. Any thoughts? PS, if the unit is low on freon, can it be re-charged?

compressor will not start

The thin gauge wire was causing the compressor not to start. If it is running and not cooling, it will need to be serviced by a refrigeration tech.
