Pondering doing a prop upgrade from factory fixed to folding. Beneteau seems to have undersized the oem fixed prop 16x13 for the y3ym30ae. At wide open throttle hitting 3500 rpm and 7.1 knots. Engine WOT is rated for 3200.

Have not even started digging into which prop yet and figuring the resellers would help me size appropriately, but just wondering what other owners with this engine and sail drive combination are running for prop and size.

Reach out to Flex-o-fold with your engine and transmission specs. The transmission gear ratio should be printed on a plate stuck to it. FOF will recommend a size based on that. In my case what they recommended has worked out very well.

Have used a Volvo 3 blade folding prop for 13+ years. Simple operation with no problem.
17 x 12 RH with 25mm bore. Part number for kit (hub & blades) #3583424 / 3584248
This set up would likely work well on your boat; specs are similar or same.
My boat was equipped from factory with 3 blade 17 x 11 prop.

Not sure which is better…folding for feathering. I debated for a while and finally bit the bullet and bought a 3-blade MaxProp feathering prop. I was sold on the reverse thrust. And the fact that I can adjust the pitch if I need to. But my buddy out sails me some days, and he says it is because he sails a folding prop (but 2-blade).

Fred Hutchison at PYI can give you a quote on the right size prop for your boat. He was very helpful.

I am going to be launching my boat soon, and I am going to tweak the pitch 1 or 2 degrees before I splash to see if I can get a little more speed with out bogging the engine down. I could even adjust the pitch in the water if I had to (but don’t plan to!).

They are a thing of beauty!
