Has anyone replaced the martec factory prop on a 1997 376 with a feathering or follding prop. What size 3 blade did you use.

Hi,
My 376 is June 1976 and has a Yanmar 3JH2 rated at 36bhp @ 3600rpm and uses a 2.83 ratio gearbox. I expect yours is the same.

I fitted a JF 3 blade folder which is a cheaper version of the Maxprop.
It is 17.7" diameter and I have it set to 20° pitch which corresponds to approx 15" pitch.
I have experimented with the pitch angle over the years and from too coarse when I could make it cavitate butting into a head sea to too fine when motorsailing needed too high revs I finally decided on the above compromise setting.
I prefer to cruise at 2800rpm when it is all very smooth and quiet and I get 7 knots in smooth water. The engine will just reach 3600rpm flat out which indicates it is not over propped. Indeed it is very good over the entire rev range and the stopping power is magnificent.
They say that under power my boat is as manoeuvrable as a London taxi both ahead and astern.
