Re: Oil change
It's important to run the engine until it gets nicely warm, wait a few minutes, and then drain the oil (not the filter). Refill with new oil (most engines only hold 1 to 2 liters of oil and oil is cheep, much cheeper than a repair job)
Run the engin again, and drain again- and this time change the filter before refilling the engine oil.
When the book says "drain every 200 hours", I drain every 100 hours, though the filter every 200 hours. If the engine is used only to get away from the slip, change more often!
One more point: Power setups where the shaft runs all the time, don't run the engine dry; it may hurt the stern bearing.
If the boat comes out for winter storage, make sure to run the engine, undo the water intake , use a short piece of hose from the water pump to a bail filled with the antifreeze mixture and let the engine suck the antifreeze .
