How do people do this with the MD6A?I haven't done it since I've owned the boat, and now I'm scared cause a guy on my dock has a seized engine.roy

Neither have I.

I haul out every second year. I occasionally turn the engine over by
hand without starting when the boat is on the hard to (I naively
suppose) redistribute some oil over the innards of the engine).

My drill is to replace oil & oil filter in winter and fuel filter in spring.

How long had his engine left without being started?

I'd be surprised if it seized up over one winter?

Yes, I have been doing the same as you with turning the flywheel ocasionally.He told me that he believes it seized because he used ether to start it the last time.
But, if you see all the calisthenics (had to look that word up) he has to do to either lift out an 800 lb engine and walk down the dock with it, or rebuild it in place, it will scare you.I believe I read somewhere about shooting it into the air intake.roy

Re: Oil change
It's important to run the engine until it gets nicely warm, wait a few minutes, and then drain the oil (not the filter). Refill with new oil (most engines only hold 1 to 2 liters of oil and oil is cheep, much cheeper than a repair job)
Run the engin again, and drain again- and this time change the filter before refilling the engine oil.
When the book says "drain every 200 hours", I drain every 100 hours, though the filter every 200 hours. If the engine is used only to get away from the slip, change more often!
One more point: Power setups where the shaft runs all the time, don't run the engine dry; it may hurt the stern bearing.
If the boat comes out for winter storage, make sure to run the engine, undo the water intake , use a short piece of hose from the water pump to a bail filled with the antifreeze mixture and let the engine suck the antifreeze .
