Peggy this was a recommendation to a post I made on a smelly foam aft cabin bed I have I had a small diesel spill last year that I can now smill in the foam a little. Do you agree were do you get PureAyre?

You might want to get Peggy's opinion on this, but I believe I've heard her say (well, seen her write, actually) that you can eliminate odors in foam mattresses, including diesel, by spraying the foam liberally with PureAyre and working it in to the foam until it has completely penetrated all the way through. Also soak the covers in a bucket of diluted PureAyre (one gallon water to one cup PureAyre) overnight, and then wash on gentle. Let us know if it works, I have a gallon and a half of PureAyre onboard and intend to do this job myself when I get some

It should work, but only IF....

You've managed to remove all the diesel first....which may be just about impossible to do in a mattress, 'cuz detergent is the only thing that'll emulsify and remove oil or diesel, followed by a VERY thorough rinse.

So unless you CAN wash the mattress, I can't promise you that PureAyre or anything else will get rid of the diesel odo, 'cuz you cannot eliminate ANY odor unless you've first eliminated the source of that odor.

However, PureAyre used as you describe it would definitely get rid of mildew odor in anything, including cushions and mattresses, once they've been cleaned. Use it in musty wet lockers and also on musty foulies and PFDs...spray 'em all over with it, then hang 'em outside in the sun to dry.

As for where to get PureAyre...the sbo.com online store here has the smaller trigger spray bottles...but the only place I know of to get it in gallons is directly from PureAyre: PureAyre
Buy the household version...it works just as well and costs considerably less than the marine version. Skip their "mister"...a $15 pump garden spray jug from Walmart works just as well and doesn't require 115v AC power.

Re: It should work, but only IF....

Thanks Peggy

The source of the smell is corrected it was a small leak in the fuel line the fuel did not come into contact with the foam but it picked up the smell just a little. I was told to wash the foam with Colgon the rince air dry then use the PureAyre. Thanks

other uses for PureAyre?

Hey Peggy, That sounds like Pureayre may be the ticket for us NJ-ites that got clobbered by those rains a few weeks back(I always wanted a pool-just never thought it'd be in my family room!) to help remove the wet carpet smell of those that only got wet rather than inundated - I only pulled out about 200 gal from the crawlspace and family room carpet....
