My son and I are flying out to Marina Del Rey (CA) to do a little charter sailing next week, and I thought that I would check whether the CO2 cartridge for an inflatable PFD could go into checked baggage? A search of the archives did not turn up a clear answer, though maybe I was a dummy with the search terms, who knows?

Just guessing but...

I'm sure you can, they ship those things on planes left and right...If I can check a deer rifle I'm sure that wont be a problem.

There's also 2, WM stores in MDR if you

need to get some there. It's like thoses places where there's a Starbuck's across the street from another Starbuck's.

Frontier said NO

Frontier Airlines said no. So I guess I am SOL. :( Sounds like I may need to check out the double WMs that seem to be only a couple of blocks apart. Thanks for all the responses - especially the US Sailing link. This seems to call for a letter to the local Congress lady.

Have you tried...

I havent bought CO2 capsules in a long while, but they are sole in various places. Hobby shops carry them for propelling some model 'rockets'. They are also used for BB and pellet guns. I never checked walmart, that might be worth a shot.

Just Throw Them in Your Dop Kit, and Don't Ask

Stow them with your hair spray, deodorant, bug spray, etc they are no more dangerous than those items and folks fly with them all the time.
