Question: Is it possible to fly a spinaker using a spinaker pole on a H29.5. Background: I just recently purchase the boat, which came with a pole and spinaker. My problem is that the boat does not appear to be equiped with a topping lift or down guy for my spinaker pole.

Cruising Spinnaker?

I do not have much spinnaker experience but thought I would put in my 2 cents worth. Does your boat have a spinnaker halyard? Sheet winches? An attachment point on the mast for the spinnaker pole? If it is a cruising spinnaker or gennaker you don't need a topping lift or down guy. If you decide to fly it, do it in light winds. Good luck!

Pole for the bow

Could the previous owner been using the pole as a bowsprit pole? The 29.5 has 2 options for Asym. Spin. 1) Cruising mode: no pole, just tether tack to the bow eye and 2) Serious (read race) Mode: pole slides out of anchor locker and extendes like a bow sprit. Tack is on forward end of pole.
