Fluxgate Compass

I along with other 49 owners have had the autopilot make 30 degree turns when you turn on the microwave or run one of the electric winches. It may have to do with the flux gate compass wiring running along side the cables from the house banks. I have not confirmed this.
For the longest time, I could not calibrate my autopilot, (you know where you go out in the harbor and do 360s for three times).
Anyway, autopilot didn't work cause the fluxgate compass was not calibrated. I traced the wires and the installer of the autopilot had run the wires under a motor mount and the cable had been crushed. They neatly put a short piece of black tape on the damage to disguise it.
So. I need to shorten the cable to remove the splice. To accomplish this I relocated the compass to the the CL of the boat under the aft berth and reconnected the wires.
After the connection was remade, the autopilot recalibrated on the first spin in the harbor. Success!

Fluxgate location
You might have put something magnetic under the seat locker which is affecting it
It is under the forward seat in the dinette area just off center line.

Auto Computer
If you know or track down the computer for the auto you should see
the wires from the fluxgate and than some how follow the wires to the fluxgate.

Well,...actually haven't gotten that far yet. Just finding the darn thing was challenge enough initially. I did have some bags and such which had medal fittings and zippers but even after those were removed, the compass error remained.
I've got a specialist coming out tomorrow to help me troubleshoot and repair a number of minor issues (paying to learn) so hopefully it'll be fixed before this weekend.
