fluxgate compass location

I am planning to install an autopilot on a yr. 2000 450. Any suggestions on the best place to put the fluxgate compass? Thanks in advance.

Mine is located

For what it's worth my factory installed fluxgate is located in my aft starboard closet. It seems to work well the only problem is to remind everyone using the closet not to put any metal objects inside. Clothes hangers are not a problem. Hope this helps.

Mine is now located under the starboard

seat in the aft cabin (next to the bed and used for the computer desk). It was original installed under the bed and did not work properly due to the metal springs in the mattress. As in the other response were ever you install it, don't store metal objects near by.

I installed mine in the compartment just aft of the shower. There is floorboard there, remove it and up will see a storage compartment there. Several water lines run in that area. There is an easy run to connect to the controller. Again don't store large metal objects near it.
