To all our friends on HOW and elsewhere who are in the grips of Floyd, our thoughts are with you for the safety of you, your family, your home and your boat. Boats can be replaced. You and your family can't. Be safe..... Wynn Ferrel S/V Tranquility

Thanks Wynn

Wynn, I appreciate your thoughts. After working a 20 hour shift during hurricane Floyd I headed home. "WINDSONG" my Hunter 23 is kept in the water on the Halifax River in Daytona Beach. I considered just going home and going to bed. But no. I had to check out the boat. As I turned the corner and got my first view my heart was pounding. Did "WINDSONG" survive Floyd? It did. A bent bow pulpit, broken anchor locker hatch, and battered rub rail is the only damage. My neighbors at the marina were not so lucky. Thank God for his (her) blessings on sailors. PS: My family was just fine.

Cape Cod Next for Floyd?

Thanks for the kind words, we stripped Serenity of Dodger, sails etc.. yesterday and today we'll add extra chafe gear to our mooring lines, wish her good luck, remove the dinghy from the water and pray like everybody else. Thursday night till Fridays dawn we are now expecting up to 80 MPH winds, but I worry about tidal surge as we are in a very crowded harbor (Wychemere Harbor in Harwichport) and we have no scope and can practically touch the boats around us. Thanks agin for your kind words and our best all those Soputh of us currently battling Floyd, our prayers are with you! Bob & Liz Knott S/V Serenity H380 Wychmere Harbor Harwichport, MA

Long Island Sound

It appears that the worst we will get in the western end of the sound will be tropical storm winds. But they are still calling for winds in excess of 50 knots. I turned Anthem bow into the weather last night added 6 more lines, removed the dodger and bimini tied the mainsail cover wrapped the genoa and now just hope for the best! Best of Luck to all!
