Florida to Cancun, MX

I am considering shipping my Passage 42 from the Toldeo, OH area to Ft. Lauderdale with the ultimate goal of the Mexico's Yucatan area. I have heard of a race from FL (Key West?) to Cancun. Does any one have an idea of the dates or a source for more info? I amparticularly interested in 2001 or 2002 depending on the depature dates. Also does any one have info on transporting a boat a long distance? Who is good and what have been your experiences?

Gerry, If you are on the great lakes, why not sail the boat to Ft, Lauderdale?Lots of people do it, the St LawrenceSeaway, into the Hudson River and eventually, into the ICW for the trip south. There is a race out of Tampa/St petersburg area that goes to mexico. Believe it is some time in early May.
