Hi
Going to be in Lake Worth Florida for the month of March. Anyone know of a place locally to rent a sailboat for a day? Thanks.

Where's Lake Worth? I only knew about the Lake Worth in Texas,(most likely home of the 2017 C-22 Nationals). When we lived in San Diego none of the sailboat rental companies would rent me a sailboat without some type of certification. So I got my ASA basic keelboat and offshore certifications so I could rent boats before we finally purchased one.

Hi
Lake Worth is on the Atlantic side, north of West Palm Beach. the first C22 I ever sailed we rented at Mission Bay in SD. A rental company took us into an open area to test our ability, went back to the dock once satisfied that we wouldn't kill ourselves or destroy their boat, and off we went. That was in 2005 or 2006 I think. Hoping to find a similar arrangement in Florida.

C-22 or Capri-22 on Mission Bay. We kept our C-22 at the Mission Bay Yacht Club for years when we lived there. We're now on the gulf side of Florida near Sarasota.

Interesting of another Lake Worth...

I think it was a C22 but expect it was a fixed keel model. Given that I'm facing redoing my keel this spring as well as my current rudder issues, I perhaps should have opted for a fixed keel when I bought mine in November. Oh well.....it will keep me out of the saloons...........

That must be something new, I've never even heard of it before. But regardless, the link above says it's required for "anyone born after January 1, 1988, who operates a motorized boat of 10 hp or more in Florida".

That lets 99% of us off the hook. :)

Most likely it was a Capri-22 because of the HUGE cockpit compared to the C-22 for day sailing on Mission Bay. The swing keels are a good design, but they need to be maintained, and it doesn't take long to get out of hand in a saltwater environment. Unfortunately, I believe too many swing keeled versions suffer from the lack of keel maintenance. The big advantage of a swing keel is the ease of trailering, to nothing of usually better pointing. Most of the time a swing keeled boat doesn't need the trailer tongue extension used for launching or recovering, where our boat with the wing keel always requires the tongue to be extended, and a fixed keel version can be a nightmare at the ramp,(for me anyway).

Are you talking about the "Space Coast Regatta, March 12-13", probably not, I need to get my boat back to Florida, repaired, and break-in a new outboard. We hope to do some cruising on the gulf side in March and start exploring our new cruising areas.

Don't know where your at only place I know of is. http://www.keylargocottages.com/our-sailboats/

Sure there are similar locations where your at though.
The wife and I keep saying we're gonna come check that place out someday. Just leave Daydream at home, drive down, and day sail their boats - while sleeping on a nice comfy bed in an air conditioned room every night. Nice!

Sorry we missed you at Christmas, BTW. The winds were SSE for the most part, it would have been dead on our nose the whole way down.

well you haven't missed much. We went way to windy to sail for me for nearly a month on and off rolling white caps. As far as me my trip this winter has all but been canceled between the wind when I planed on going to my health have been in the hospital more than at home and have only been able to go sailing like 2 times in the last 3 weeks.

Oh well guess I live here if I don't get my trip this winter then I'll get my trip next winter what ya gonna do.

mrudman,
I am located in Pompano Beach just south of Lake Worth. Let me know when your in town, I am always looking for an excuse to sail. I work during the week, but we can go out for a weekend day sail on my H31 if the weather is good.
