Florida O'day owners get-together

Hello all, I am throwing this out to all the Florida Oday owners, and anyone else that might be interested. I have been thinking of putting together a Florida version of the rOnDAYvous. My thought was on the Gulf Coast, but my boat is trailerable so that's not so much of an issue. This would be a great time to get together, put some faces to email addresses, compare and converse with our unique fraternity of friends. Of course, there might be some types of beverages also. Bring the kids, bring the wife, bring the girlfriend / boyfriend, whatever. Let me know if there is any interest. I haven't taken it to the point where I am looking at a calendar yet. Go for it!

Go for it, Ross. Us Northeastern O'dayers are living proof of the power of bonding through a brand name. We just wrapped up rOnDAYvous #4, and there's no reason to think the annual event will die off anytime soon.One word of advice based on our experience -- although you have a trailerable, and are pretty much able to go anywhere, not everyone will be that free to roam. So, while picking a location is important, don't cast too wide a net in looking for attendees. Unless people have lots of time on their hands (a very long weekend, or a week of vacation), they may not be willing to commit more than a day of sailing to reach the rOnDAYvous site.Check out the owners' directory to see if focusing on a limited area -- say, the central Gulf Coast area -- would give you enough potential attendees. Nothing says you can't look further afield (for rOnDAYvous #2, I targeted every O'day owner from Massachusetts to Maryland), but chances are you'll draw those who are within about 50 or so miles of the site.Bottom line, at least for us, has been that it's not about generating huge attendance numbers, although that would be fabulous. I think it's a great idea. I'm located at Pensacola so the Gulf Coast is ideal for me. Hope it happens.Joe

Ok Ross. I'm up for it. Coarse I have to fit and finish the new old boat. There is an oday 25 owner in Hudson that I'm waiting to hear from about sizing up my gear needs. I would think somewhere around Npr would be good, one of the main concerns would be boat launch/parking issue. Anclote park has good ramp, lots of parking, cept on busy (especially holiday weekends) the parking fills up. Good that you put the feelers out (or stuck toe in water) I think it would be great to take over the waters. Patrick

I'm a new owner of a 1984 O'Day 222 and would love an excuse to trailer it on down to Florida in the Winter. Please keep me posted on your progress.

be... um..where ever it may occur. I'm going to the yard on 22 Sept. After that, Cabbage Key-Venice-St.Pete-Anclote/Tarpon Springs-Cedar Key-Pensca/Florabama-Houston?? Oh yeah with 3-5 other boats. Not O'Day. They can't all be sensible.Thanks,James
