Southwest Florida

Amelia Island Yacht Basin
I suggest the Amelia Island Yacht Basin at least for a few days. Amelia Island is a great place to visit, nice town, nice beaches The yacht basin is south of the town of Fernandina Beach, just before the rail road bridge. Fernandina Beach is a gretplace also right in town. However other than the outside dock there is no water at low tide As or the Amelia Island Yacht Basin, the entrance is very narrow and shallow at low tide. If you draw over 4 feet, don't enter an hour before or after low tide. However, you must remember in Jan - March Amelia Island can have some cold weather so stop in the fall and go further south in the winter Look me up if you stop, John Burns on "Mast Confusion"

In the Ft. Pierce , FL area (50 miles S of Melborne, 80 miles N of West Palm) is a good area to stay in. The Ft. Pierce City Marina is quite good. They have floating concrete docks, Laundry, head & showers, ships store, and the Tiki Hut for drinks (& lunch), a farmers market every saturday, and a street festval one Friday each month. Within walking distance of old Ft. Pierce downtown area and resturants, etc. It is just S of the Ft. Pierce Inlet on the ICW (Indian River). Dick Carey S/V Puffin '90 H-33.5
