I need help! Launched our boat Saturday - everything looks great except the floor of our 1999 Hunter 260. The Admiral commands that the floor is to be replaced.

Does anyone on the forum know if Hunter still has floors available for the 260? If not are there other vendors we can contact? If not an original floor - what other options are there? Plywood? Laminates? Some kind of plastic?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

laminate and see if the site store can order one for you from Hunter. If not, make an impression drawing and see if anyone locally can make it or a boat yard near by. But make it a laminate and if you need further info. contact me.

Dave - one other question ... the sole on a 260 is, I believe, directly atop the water ballast tank - is that correct? Could you replace the wooden sole with a non-structural material (say carpet) without doing any damage?

In essence, that floor is resting on the floor pan which is recessed for the flooring and held down with liquid nails. It will be a thrill taking that out but never drill thru that floor under no circumstances.

Now for the carpet, What ever the Mrs. wants, my advice to you is, she is the boss inside the boat and boss at the house. You know, you have to keep the better halves happy if you want to remain happy. I am saying not anymore on this or I may be walking into quicksand.

Floor Thickness

With the assistance of Sailboatowners.com we have come across a source for marine laminate with a teak & holly appearance. It comes in 4' x 8' sheets - either 6mm or 12 mm thick. Dave (or anyone else) do you know the thickness for the sole of the Hunter 260?

Dave - my e-mail address is: tgrass462@yahoo.com If you could send me the reference number for the floor (SOLE) thickness for the Hunter 260 - I would be VERY appreciative.
