I saw on a similar boat a wooden mat floor made out of criss cross wood that serves as a floor board; it was in the head floor area, right in front of the toilet
I have seen similar products made out of plastc covering the cockpit floor, but it is the wood I am after
Does anyone know where to get it, for a Hunter 33?

There are all custom made and not difficult to do if you are willing and have the time. You can find kits at WM et.al. to roll your own too. They are dirt traps and not so easy on the toes so be careful what you wish for.

Agree with Don, hard on the feet. A nice fluffy bathmat is nice for the head so long as there are no leaks in the area.

LeClick makes a Teak covered version of their plastic interlocking panels that I have always thought was really neat. You can see how it can only bend one way from the photos while still allowing full drainage. These could work in the cockpit or the head with some adaptation. It's not the grid but it may be an option.

If I recall the H33 has the shower basin directly in front of the head? If that's correct, no fluffy mat. But it is perfect for the H37C and boats where the shower it in its own stall. Reminds us of how we're livin' large not worrying about the toilet paper getting soaked while showering. :)

jorge-- I can make one for you, but i'll cost ya! :)

There are many of these available, even pre-made for the H33; but they are never cheap. Some guys make a living doing nothing but teak sole grates for showers and cockpits. (Imagine how you'd live for 6 months after selling one for a sportfishing yacht in Miami.)

For myself, I prefer good old Interlux Interdeck. Pick a new soft color and it's easy on the feet. And when you plug the scuppers to have a bath it's easy on the old backside.

Which reminds me... these grates do have a habit of floating when the cockpit gets too much water... or sometimes just floating (or walking) away.

I removed the teak floorboards right after purchase, and installed this kind of rubber floor mat. This is the 2nd boat I've used it on, and I much prefer it to heavy wood floor. Its mildew/UV resistant, doesn't change color, is soft on my dogs feet 8^) and cleans with soap/water. I purchased it at Mason's in Port Credit. $33 a foot, but it was worth it.

sail_4_me, this is exactly the mat I have been looking for but I haven't been able to find it. Tell me again where you bought it? Do you know name brand or anything about it?

To Sail 4 Me:
If each 'square' is 1 sq. ft., you paid a pretty price for your application.

It was $33 a foot, but the roll is 3 feet wide. I laid down 2 pieces in the cockpit lengthwise, taped together with matching blue exterior waterproof electrical tape. Yes, in total about $300 so its expensive, but thats relative. the original teak grating did not sit flat, so it had to be replaced.

I also bought a wonderfull Edson folding starboard cockpit table for $300 on Kijiijii, that was like-new ( retail over $600 ). it all balances out, and she's worth it.

I'm still looking for the receipt from Mason's in Port Credit, Toronto. They don't have the item listed on their website.
