Flexing in the cabin sole

IN the midsts of a rebuilding a 30 year old sailboat. I have almost all problem areas resolved, with the ecxception of the cabin sole. I have a llittle bit of flexing, as I walk along it, not much but a little. If I put 3/16 aluminum plate between the sole and where the bilge comes up to meet it, the flex is all but eliminated. I think what happened is that the ribs ( I assume there are ribs under there) became detached from the sole because of the standing water (rain). I spoke to the guy taht built the boat, and was told there is no wood under the floor, its all fiberglass. My thought is to remove all, or as much flex as posible by bolting or screwing aluminum plate under the sole where I can get to it, then start laying up fiberglass on top of what is there now, to reinforce evern further. Does this sound appropriate? The boat is a Northern 25 (25'), which is based on the O'Day Outlaw (26'), and is a Rhodes design if that helps.

I think that may be over kill

How thick is the floor material? When I rebuilt Bietzpadlin the cabin sole was gone bad so it came out and I installed transverse 2x2 supports for a new plank floor fastened with screws. For me this allowed the advantage of being able to access the entire bilge if I needed to.

Thanks for your reply

That is an interesing idea. Can you perhaps send me an email or if you want expand on how you did your cabin sole rebuild? I didn't sleep at all last night thinking about this, but to have your statement that you think it is overkill what I propose to do, that just made my day. I was honestly thinking that this was a deal killer, that I would have to scrap the boat. Much appreciate the comment, you have no idea how troubling this was. My email cdhillier@mac.com
