Fixture hole in cockpit

On my 1978 O'day 23 there was something mounted in the aft (transom) wall of the cockpit, equi distant vertical, horizontal. i.e, dead center. Its a thru wall hole about 1 1/2". Was it a light, or what? I'm trying to buff out the gel coat and wondering if I should just fill this, or whatever. Thanks

Couple of thoughts. It could be an exit for the fuel line to the outboard from the cockpit locker. My 25 was set up this way until I moved the gas tank to the cockpit. Or it could be a thru hull spot for a bilge pump discharge.

It could have been for a receptacle for the charging unit wire and plug from the outboard. If the hole is about 1/2" and has some small screw holes around it, this is what it could have been.

I mounted one of these receptacles years ago and it proved to be worthless. The plug pushed into it and the connection really wasn't that great not to mention that the connections to the prongs will only take 16 gauge wire or less.
I wound up removing the guts from the receptacle and just using it to pass a longer wire that I made up from the charging unit to a terminal strip in the lazarett mounted to the rear bulkhead. I use a # 10 stranded duplex wire to the term strip and the same to the house battery. I get an excellent connection with plenty of load carrying capacity.

Where the wire enters the receptacle, I have an 8'' Beckson deck plate and I'm able to add a bead of tape on the duplex to keep it from getting pulled out. Then I caulk around the cable at the outlet to keep the moisture out. Here's a picture of it. The other receptacle is for my autopilot.

O.K - I'm guessing charging cable. Deck plate might be easiest fix, no gel coat work. Thanks all.
