Wondering if anyone has replaced a fixed swim ladder with a telescopic one. My 336 ladder is fixed and in order to fold down transom seat and open walk thru, the ladder has to be in water. Prior boat was a 326 with telescopic ladder, which permitted me to keep transom seat down and walk thru open while underway. Any experiences and suggestions would be appreciated. - Dennis

I'm with you Dennis. My 29.5 has the same type ladder. We are looking for a solution same as you. Looking at some in the defender that telescope and pivot. Might have to fabricate or modify something.

Just a suggestion and take it for what is worth. If the ladder does not get much use consider removing it and storing it away for when you go sell the boat. A rope ladder which could attach to the swim platform handles could be stored in a stern lazarette for when needed. Just ask yourself if the use of the ladder is worth the cost and installation work for a permanent modification.

Several owners have made this modification. Rick on Whiskey Chaser can probably send you some pictures of his boat, which he modified to a telescoping ladder. The trick is making sure the width is correct so that the mounting brackets fit into the molded depressions in the swim step.

I am looking for the same solution for my 376. I have removed the ladder as I back in to step directly onto the dock, but I'd rather not have the ladder lashed to the rail when not in use.
