I am interested in buying a 26S and using a 6 to 10 hp outboard. As I understand it the rudders are locked down in the full down position. In this position how much draft does the boat have with the keel mostly up, ie to level of rudders at least. I must navigate in about 3 feet of water 3 km to reach the Intercostal Waterway. Can I do this with the rudders full down?. Can I lock them in a pariially up position just to get to ICW? Or can you just leave the rudders down without locking them at slow speeds, say 4kts. Thanks for any help. Tip, the guy with the 40 foot dock in his backyard and a 3 foot chanel(or less) to the ICW. Most of the neighbors are shallow water fisherman and could care less.
