I have an oday 23 it has a fixed keel an a thru hull mast the boat set under a tree 13 years im just now getting it cleaned up does anyone have some rigging instructions for this boat I have all the sails new tiller handle I haven't seen another boat like this one on here it has the long type keel not shoal keel the hull no is xdyto32im78j

Others who have looked have found the "iheartoday" site useful for manuels and downloads plus pictures of other boats like you have. The pictures may answer rigging questions. Also, drmarine offers some parts. Check them also.
How difficult is it to remove the mast when it is stepped through the deck? Of course with larger boats we would expect to use marina facilities. Is that what you did?

The HIN you listed looks strange. Check it closely and you might find: XDYT 0321 M78J
The info on the registration is often easily miscopied when "1" and "i" look alike.
If the HIN on the hull is different from the paperwork make a pencil rubbing of the hull in order to plead your case for a correction by the nice people who are in charge of the registration. Be careful to say "please", "Sir/Mam" as appropriate, and smile often. Avoid the word "mistake". That will only pi$$ off the person in charge. Don't even suggest that someone in that office is responsible for the "confusion".

0321 = Hull or Class# This is the 321st O'DAY 23 (I'd say 321st of the so-called 23-2 or 1977-85 version)
M78 = 1978 Model Year
J = May, the month the boat was completed, May 1978 in this case.
I have rigging instructions (the original sheet supplied by O'DAY, also available from D&R Marine) for the 1978 O'DAY 23, but they would only cover the standard deck-stepped, hinged mast. I know that a fixed, Fin-keel was an option (though few were built as far as I've heard) on the 23 at that time, I have never heard of the 177-85 version of the 23 having a kee-stepped mast. The original Pop-Top 23 (1971-early 73) where the whole cabin trunk raised, did have a keel-stepped mast, the non-pop-top model of that time had a deck-stepped mast. I'd suggest contacting Rudy at D&R Marine (508) 644-3001 to see if he has any record of this boat and whether the mast was factory-original. The basics of rigging will be the same as for the stock, deck-stepped mast I would assume, but obviously the actual process to step/unstep the mast will be different.
