Regarding the fixed keel hunter 22 (1984). On the cabin sole directly below the campionway steps there is a access port. Is the bolt below this access the aft keel bolt? Mine seems to have two washers and two nuts on the bolt, the bolt looks like the extra stick up was sawed off. The bolt is only about 4 inches long. Is this correct (do you see this on your boats) or a poor attempt at a replacement by a previous owner? Now for the real problem: The bolt is loose. I can lift it out with my hand and when I do so sea water spouts in. I haven't dropped the keel, it's probably holding on by the other bolt(?). Never had any problems with leaks before and she looked fine when I had her blocked a month ago. I have it plugged for the time being so she won't sink but she's hardly sea worthy. How do I fix this! Especially if the threadings in the keel are stripped? How exactly does the bolt thread into the keel? Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

Haul her

I have an '85 H23 wing keel. The H22 evolved into the H23 but I don't know if they are the same under the floor boards. My keel bolts are under the floor boards in the cabin sole just were you'd expect them to be. Seems to me there are at least four bolts in mine though... No matter how many: If I found one in the condition you are describing I'd have her hauled and repaired by a pro.
