Does anybody know the name of the fitting that attaches to the bottom of the mast of the Oday 25 and the boom vang attaches to it? Does anybody have a picture of one?

I believe that it's called a Mast Tabernacle Utility Plate. My plate and Tabernacle were made by Kenyon, but Dwyer also manufactures them. My utility plate originally had a tab on all four sides. I cut the back tab off my plate because it interfered with raising my mast mast from the lowest position of my mast holding crutch on my stern rail. I usually Mickey Mouse some kind of an attachment for my boom vang by using a rope connected to the outside plate holes. It really isn't such a big deal.

Buck, take a look at Rudy's site. He has them for the boom bail, but I think this maybe what your looking for:

I thought about that too, but if Buck is raising his mast from aft, a bail at the bottom of the mast may interfere with it. I have to admit that this is and easier solution than installing a utility plate, but I think that if I was going to go that route, I would install a smaller strap and position it in line with the mast, up and down. Also, I would want to be able to raise my lower block so that the cam cleat is clearing my open forward hatch. I remember Jon of Kokomo In., posting a picture of the boom vang set up on his OD 240 that I loved when I saw it. I saved the picture but I can't seem find it now. The one thing that I learned about sailboat modifications through the years was the fact that every change can cause undesirable consequences.

I'm not sure if this will show it very clearly, but this is the bail setup on my 23'. It's attached with four stainless screws and has a ring on it that the vang attaches to. Sorry the pic isn't a close up.

Steve. You are correct. However, the side i looking for is the side that bolts inside the sail track on the mast with two screws/bolts. I expect it would look something like an eye strap. The wife isnt happy with you guys. Sending me to Rudy's just cost her $87.74 and i still dont have what i'm looking for. But, i do enjoy the shopping.
