I want to replace my sanitation hoses (vent, head to tank, and pump-out). The vent and pump-out are pretty accessible ( if you're a ferret) but the head to holding tank hose runs through an enclosed area under the aft cabin floor then up through an enclosed area along the transom and exits into a starboard lazarette where the holding tank resides. To make matters worse, the sanitation hoses shares the pathway with a corregated engine vent hose so you can't get a hand or arm in there to grab the end of a new sanitation hose. Since the sanitation hoses are very stiff, does anyone have any tips for fishing the hose through the inaccessible areas?

Bill, if you haven't removed the old hose

What about fastening a piece of light line to the end of the old hose, then when you remove it you will pull the line through the space, then reverse the proceedure and fasten the line to your new hose and pull it back through.?? might need someone to feed the new hose while you pull the line?

How About This?

Get a splice connection and cement the new end to the old and bring the new in as you pull out the old. You will need an extra set of hands or two. Rick D.

Rick's on the right track...

Make sure the connector is male-male...use pvc cement and butt the ends as tightly together as possible...you want a smooth unbroken surface that can't get caught on anything. So no hose clamps...and don't try duct tape either, 'cuz it's too likely to pull apart. Once you've pulled all the hose--old and new--through, cut the new hose off behind the connector. Btw...the link below includes some useful tips that make this job a bit easier and a lot more pleasant.
