Instead of the 90 degree bend I use a T with a plug. I can use a hose to connect to the T and blow it out.

Were these Medical issues? Did I understand the problems correctly......some of you had a fish, a snake, or some eel grass where the sun don't shine?

We once had very small sea shells lodged in an elbow of the raw water intake line. (Yes, I know that is no place for extra connections like an elbow.) Whether they were living there or whether empty shells had been sucked in from shallow water I don't know. The shells were crunched to smithereens by the time I cleared the elbow with an awl.

Had an overheat problem on a raw water cooled 2 QM 20.. turned out to be fresh fish parts in the thermostat.. The impeller in the pump had beat him up pretty badly. Boat had no raw water strainer installed.

Why not add an external strainer? I added one to my AC intake after sucking up a fish.

Regular strainer was installed .. no further problems. Boat had not been used in a year or so and I suspect the little guy had set up at the through hull..
