first sailboat-what year?

I just bought my first sailboat about a week ago..an oday 25...I went out sailing a couple of times and love it..unfortunately I only have a few more weeks to get familiar with my new joy before she has to get stored for the winter..and then its a whole 6 months before I get to sail again...I am not sure the year of the boat..the previous owner told me it was an 83..but the registration says its an 81..and I was going through the paperwork that I received with the boat and found an old registration saying it was an 80..is there any way of finding out exactly when she was made..the hull # is

The hull number is what? The last two numerical digits of that number should give you the year of this boat.

sorry I double posted by accident and the other post had the hull..the # is XDYG2534M81I....wow that went right over my head..I guess its an 81..thanks..that was easy..this site rocks

It's a 1981 built in April of that year. The letter "G" stands for OD 25 and the letter "I" stands for April. The months started with "A" for August. "B"=Sept. "C"-Oct. and etc. The M81 I stands for model year, and month. You boat has the old serial number format. The new serial number format started in 1984 I think, and it's a little different.
