Ohoy all! This past weekend marked the first sail of the season for us. We departed on Saturday around noon and spent a rocky day heading to our favorite anchorage. We anchored up there about 4 PM. The weather that day was cool (66ish) and quite blustery (winds out of the west at 15 to 20 with gusts to 30). That night we played cards with some friends who rafted up with us on the hook. Early rising and a dash into port as we were expecting a harsh blow that afternoon. All in all, a successful weekend, if somewhat short.

A little update

Drat! We had a storm last night. Up to 80 mph winds. It unfurled my jib and ripped it to shreds. I wasn't the only one though. Seems there were others in the marina that had the same problem. I guess it could have been worse. At least my lines held.

The white stuff is still going by my window ...

and it's moving horizontal. Nick, do you think April 1 is realistic? I think that snowmobiles may still be running across my sailing grounds on that date! LIS may be liquid but you may be brushing the snow off your slip and your docklines may be frozen! Oh well, I think I'll wax my skis, since I can't get on my boat. Henry, see what you get for gloating? (I'm sorry for your loss and glad your damage wasn't any worse). Scott

Still only a Dream for us.....

We can still drive the car through the mooring field ..... hence not a good sailing day , besides I have not found an anchor that holds well in 10" of ice!! Enjoy .. us northermers are envious!

My wife and I hauled the 260 to Palatka, Florida a month ago and had a pleasant week on the St.Johns River between Palatka and Jacksonville. Since our return to upstate S.C. we have gone back to freezing nights and stormy days and the "Carolina Girl" has not left the driveway. In Palatka the azaleas and gardenias were blooming. Darren Mayes and Peter Suah are in a sailor's shangri-la. Steve Kamp

I must be dreaming

We got hit with another storm only a few inches but came at the worst time of day right before rush hour plus winds were like over 50 mph and the temperture dropping over night. I always plan for an april launch because my marina gets pretty busy once the weather gets nice, this way I am on the front of the list ready to go,I found out the hard way that you don't ever want to tell the marina not to put the boat in yet. So lets all hope for some warm weather and a great sailing season. nick
