I just picked up a 1977 C22 and am looking forward to learning how to sail. I have a lot of questions and am figuring out quite a bit on my own.
All of the rigging cables appear almost new as well as the keel cable. (The PO said he had removed the keel when he had it).
The sails look good and are original but still stiff like they have been starched (I have 3, the main and I think a jib and a Genoa)
The halyards look to be serviceable, but not quite new.
The PO had repainted everything from the toe rail down and used the boat through around 2018 and it sat in a barn until fall of 2024.
The interior is nice, the cushions appear to be original, but I haven't noticed any stains or wear to speak of (I think 1 or 2 are missing). The galley was removed and discarded by the PO. The cassette toilet looks like it has never been used.
She came with a 1974 Johnson 6 outboard that appears like he had it serviced and put it away 5-6 years ago. The impeller blades went straight when I pulled it and it started and pumped water with just a few pulls (always starts by the second now). I also have a second 1976 Johnson 6 for a spare.
The mast stepping pin was gone so I made a new one from a 5/8 bolt. I have found a usable drawing to make bridals, but am fuzzy on how they attach to the mast. I am seriously thinking about making an a-frame gin pole that would attach to the toe rails because that seems it would simplify raising and better control lateral movement of the mast. I am very curious about how tight to tension the standing rigging on this thing.
