After two years of seconds, Attitude Adjustment 2 picked up a first place in non-spin Cruz A in the annual Newport Beach to Ensenada BC race. The race crew "Los Viejos Rapidos" did a fine job of sail trim and concentrated well on their tasks during the 33 hours it took to finish this mostly light-air race. Anyhow, there were lots of Hunters in the race, and it shows how popular the line has become in SoCal. More later. See the link. Rick D.

Nice job Rick

I replied to your earlier post about the race. As I said we just had too much going on with buying a house and moving (only 10 miles but...). So the first thing I did on monday was check the results. I was curios how you only had about 8 minutes corrected. Very little engine use or did it just work out that way after phrf adjustment? Look forward to giving you a run next year. Cheers

Way to Go Rick!!

No fluke that, I see twenty-three boats finished in class. Very impressive. I always said those Legends were fast. Looks good in print too. Congrats!! 1ST CRUZ NA ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT 46480 DINON, RICHARD SMWYC CRESTLINE 32:49:07 My friends on this coast did not fare so well in the race from Tampa Bay to Mexico. They were on Summer Breeze a H44DS and Cool Change a Tartan 37. I haven't talked to them to see what happened, they are still in Mexico. http://charthorizon.com/races/2008_tampa_islamujeres/htdocs/leader_board.php?

...and a thanks for the kindness to Ed. Rick, the finish time and rating were a coincidence. We did motor for two hours near the finish when it was 00 knots but it was way less than the other guys. It took us 40 minutes to do the last hundred yards to the finish. More later...

Ed....Who do you know on

Cool Change? That boat is out of my yacht club and most of them are very close friends of mine. I followed the race on line and they were looking good the first 2 days. Don't know the whole story either yet, but it looks like they got caught up in the current. One night they actually went backwards almost 20 miles. I did't realize how strong the current is off the tip of Cuba and how it eddies.

H40 "Day Tripper II" won too

The Hunter 40 "Day Tripper II", skipper of record Andy Horning, won PHRF division G. That's the 2nd time I remember them doing that recently. Elapsed time 29:12:42 and corrected time 25:40:12, both best in class. I ditched work long enough to motor out to watch the race starts and ran across them before their start. They gave us an appropriately hard time for not racing our H40. :) Andy and Rick, congratulations to you both.
