Sailed to Rock Hall Sat, left about 11:00 AM> . Tough ride, wind was out of southeast, right where we needed to go. Fought it and waves for 2 hours, not much headway, motored into Rock Hall harbr. 2 hrs. motoring. Cruised around the harbor, stop at waterfront bar, then out and around to the north to Swan Creek. Ate dinner aboard the boat, Chicken Caeser salad,(healthy), Berger cookie`s for desert. (not so healthy). Relaxing, drinks in hand, radio on, good breeze, went overboard to cool off (6`water at high tide). At 7:00PM. 3 sailboats come through the anchorage, bride and groom on the bow of first boat, second boat firing a cannon! A wedding parade cruise.
At night, all mast top anchor lights lit up on all the sailboats, made it look like a train garden. Sunday AM ,made coffee, pancakes, OJ, on the boat(2 burner alcohol stove) then sailed home. Good wind out of S/W this time.Good trip.:)

Dave,
There you go! Sounds like you had great time. Many more like that, Cheif. I mean the anchor, not the lousy wind. I can relate though. Had to anchor stem and stern last light. The stern dragged in middle of the night. Pulled up and "borrowed" an empty mooring. Morning saw us hunkered down in driving rain, then motoring for three hours in very unsettled water.

Look forward to more good reports.

Don

Dava, Where did you start? seems like half the times we go out that the wind is contrary.

Wonderful!

That's great! It's pretty cool. Sounds like you had an adventure. Anything you do different the next time?

I too spent the holiday on my P23 & got in some great sailing. Did a 4 hour stint wing & wing with the genoa poled out coming home.

Re: Wonderful!

Ross : we motored out of Middle river to the north end of Hart Miller Island, Right turn there, headed south/southeast.
Jerry : Next time I will explain to the Admiral : Clearly, Repeatedly: Anticipated departure time is not like the Pirates Code, "just guidelines, really". An earlier start would have been helpful I think, pretty hot & tired when we reached Rock Hall. But I must admit ,we recovered nicely after anchoring and a quick dip overboard.

Re: Wonderful!

Also, Jerry, I have a pole that came with this boat. We didn`t have it aboard, I`ve never used one but we had about 90 Minutes W/W on the way back. I`ll be experimenting with it next time out ,I hope.

Re: Wonderful!

If you should turn left coming from Middle River and sail north you will first come past Worton Creek and then past Still Pond and then to the mouth of the Sassafras River. Worton creek has restaurants and docks, Still Pond and the Sassafras are wilderness with an awful lot of quiet.

+1 for Still Pond! If your draft is around 4', you can go "inside". It's much calmer, less crowded and you can go on the beach.
