I bought a (Maryland) Chesapeake Bay Sport Fishing License that covers anyone who fishes from my boat. This year, fisherman must register at Countmyfish,noaa.gov for the "National Saltwater Angler Registry". Call it a license, as you MUST have one of the cards they send out with your registration number and DOB on it. When you apply, the site says, "free for 2010", which certainly sounds like next year there will be a charge for it. If there is, I'll hang up my rods.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
A MD salt water license covers VA waters and vice versa. I haven't heard anyting about the Noaa fishing license.

I remember when you didn't need a license to salt water fish. It is crap that we keep on having to pick up the tab for other things. Blah!

Been hearing about this

Supposedly it is some new gummit program to keep track of how many fish are actually caught. So far is somewhat confusing, but I have to agree that it is just another way to get a few more bucks out of us. From what I have read so far, anyone with a fishing license is going to have to register. Since I am over 65, and no longer have to have a license in home waters, it supposedly doesn't apply to me. Sometimes I think they should just set a flat fee, tattoo a number on our foreheads, and be done with all the petty BS.
