http://www.yachtaragorn.com/Thailand.htm Here is a very freightening first hand account of the recent tidal wave. There are several pictures showing the progress of the water as it emptied, then flooded the bay where several sail boats were anchored. The written accounts are long but well worth the time to read. Many chilling issues are mentioned. I am amazed how all of these boats were able to come through the event while on their anchors. Also notice that the waves were so steep that they broke both forwards and backwards as they progressed. John Richard s/v Jack's Place

Good lesson to learn

Its good to see that,if you can anchor well and if your anchor and chain strong enough to hold;Boat survives herself even in that horrible accident..

Amazing

Thanks for sharing this information. The photogrqaphs and written accounts reveal the power of the waves that I have not seen in any other report. Ed and Helen's survival is miraculous, and his description explains why so many people lost their lives. Truly amazing. Alan Johnson

Somehow

I can't get all teary-eyed about the rescue of "Carolyn's new expensive digital camera" when the latest numbers indicate more than 220,000 dead.
