Hi all, I need a new first aid kit. I may prefer to "build my own." Anyone suggest a suitable container? Can I buy an "empty" first aid kit? If so, where? Or, can anyone suggest a good commercially available kit? Anyone else discover thatthe store-bought kits are crammed with un-needed junk that takes room from the good stuff? Richard H23 "Invictus"

Lots of choices.

I bought plastic orange marine storage boxes from planno with an o ring seal. They come in varried sizes are cheap, tough and water resistant. Other choices would be tackle boxes and small multi pocket bags or back packs. Best to be orange as most know that's a safety related color. As what to put in them, well that's determined by access, level of knowledge and possibility of persons with advanced skills/knowledge assisting. alan

First Aid Kit

I too believe that many first aid kits are incomplete for the type of boating you may be doing or the geographical area you plan to sail in. Before our Bahamas trip I visited a local pharmicst, explained the nature of our plans and asked him to assemble a custom first aid kit. Fortunately it got litte use but I felt much more comfortable knowing what was in there and how to use it.

First aid kit

I have found that a medium sized tackle box works best for us. With the deviders it makes it easier to keep organized and find what your looking for quicker. Most kits have only one compartment and do not have room to sdd additional items. Don,t forget essential over the counter meds.... motrin, pepto, antacids, imodium ect. ace bandage always comes in handy, instant ice pack, benidril, bee sting stick, sun burn cream, ect. always better to have and not need than to be without!

Medical Kit

We store our medical kit in the head, under the sink. A tackle box would not work for us. So we put the items in two rubbermaid sealable containers. Chemicals in one and non-chemicals in the other. Works great.
