If they have metal heads they can probably

be recharged by an extinguisher company if you have doubts about their age. Extinguishers with plastic heads are pretty much considered disposable. Only difference in a "marine" extinguisher is that the band on the wall mount is supposed to be metal not plastic (or vice versa). For CG Safety inspections I've only had them check the gauge, never seem to look close enough to see if CG approved. As long as it has UL (Underwriters Labs) and/or FM (Factory Mutual) approval it's probably OK.

bc vs abc

The designations "ABC" and "BC" refer to the type of fire that the extinguisher is designed to deal with. From memory, "B" is liquid fueled - such as grease or gas, "C" is electrical, and "A" is paper/wood/rags. Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle
