Just finished running all new wires every where, adding a few goodies and now just have to hook up the wires to the two new 6 gang panels and then done. Just curious if anybody else has added another fuse panel to their boat? I had the original 6 gang in the boat but added a bilge, head night light, separated both the ship-to-shore radio and stereo to their own breakers, added LED cockpit lights and a LED light in the area under the cockpit. Decided to put in a battery switch and will most likely add another battery next year when I can figure out a good way to stabilize the second batter in the area below the cockpit.

Nice work. Do you have time to stop by and work on my wiring birds nest?

I know nothing of each state's regulation but I think most require the positive terminal covered. I was surprised that mine state required both terminals covers. (a bit of overkill IMO) I believe you can use individual terminal covers or simply a covered battery box.

I do use a battery box but didn't have it installed in the photo but with that said, I had no idea states had rulings on this.

Me neither, I found out when I had my boat inspected by the coast guard volunteer.

I'm not sure how big of a deal it is. It would likely be something that would be pointed out if you were stopped for an inspection.

In my mind, cleaning up the wiring and correct size like you did is more important than following some very general regulation
Having said that,the battery box will prevent lose items from contracting a cross the two terminals while you are sailing in rough seas.

And it will prevent mess should the battery crack and leak acid all over...

Wind, nice job!
It's amazing you can do all that nice work and no one really sees it but the guys on this site know what you did just by the nice neat job you did with the battery switch.
Those small panels were OK 30 some years ago but not now days with more electronics.
