I purchased a hunter 240 in October and found a large crack in the hull upon getting it home.

That occured from a messed up trailer situation. I have had the trailer and hull repaired. The hull is gelcoat finished and not bottom painted. It hasen't been in the water once yet.

But when I picked the boat up from being repaired. I found a couple of spots that have spiderweb type cracks below the waterline, where the guy had boat jacks supporting the boat while the work was done.

It has been real cold here I am thinking that is why the cracks possibly.

Should I be concerned as the guy that repaired the boat said I shouldn't worry about it and enjoy the boat. My instincts are telling me they should not be thear.

I am new to sailing and this is my first sailboat. I tend to be a perfectionist, but I just dont need any more boat problems. Should I be concerned or just let it go?

Thanks
Dock

Dock,

If they radiate out from a center point or originate in a particular area then they were most likely caused by jack stands and in-adequate support surface area for the load. Ideally you don't want cracks in the gelcoat below water as it allows for easier water ingress to the underlying laminate.

I would talk to the guy who fixed it and perhaps call Hunter to see where they suggest placing stands....

Thank you for your imput. Yes they radiate fom a center point I am sure it was the stands.

They werent there a few weeks ago when he did the repair on the hull. Since then he has been working on the trailer and the weather has gotten much colder which I think may have contributed.
