We are purchasing a Beneteau 411 and would like to install four 6 Volt golf cart batteries in lieu of the single 4D battery presently installed. We've determined that we can locate two golf cart batteries in place of the single 4D. Any ideas on where the second two could find a home? Thanks

What is your layout? Do you have the 2 cabin or the 3 cabin version?

A second 4D will fit in the large starboard cockpit locker. Place it tight against the inside wall for best weight distribution. Mine is paralleled to the original fore the engine.

While 4 golf cart batteries may save you a few bucks, it will buy you twice as many connections. Connections that corrode and degrade DC power.

Thanks. Unfortunately, that spot is taken since the prior owner installed an auxiliary fuel tank in that location. We could probably install it at the forward end of lazarette. BTW, there are other reasons to use golf cart batteries besides cost savings eg, weight and greater thickness of plates which determines number of deep cycles.

We've purchased four 6 Volt golf cart batteries from the local Sam's Club; got a great deal. We've determined that 3 of them will fit in the space forward of the engine now occupied by one 4D. Where to put the last golf cart battery? The starboard lazarette seems so far away! We'd love to put it next to Start battery aft of engine, but it appears too crowded. Any 411/2 cabin owners out there with ideas?

When all the dust settled we could only fit two into the space occupied by the single 4D. The reason was that the companion stairs interfered when closed (due to the height). We then put two in the place of 4D mounted end to end. We located two others end to end within lazarette up against auxiliary fuel tank (installed by previous owner). It was a 12 foot run from lazarette to battery switches. The cost of those two custom battery cables was about equal to the 4 golf cart batteries:confused: Now everything is hooked up and running. We're waiting on two golf cart battery boxes that each accommodate two golf cart batteries end to end.
