I have a 1994 37.5. I am looking to fill the CNG tank. I live in London Ontario 1 hour away from Michigan and 2 hours away from Toronto Ontario. Has anyone had any luck refilling their CNG tank.
Hi, Mike. We were having problems with the cost and availability of CNG so we converted to propane. Hunter had a propane locker that fits perfectly in our aft locker by the swim ladder. The Hillrange people sent us new jets for the stove and the installation went well. You might consider it if it's difficult to get CNG. We find the propane lasts longer and burns hotter. Alice
I like the safety factor of CNG and I haven't found cost to be an issue. And retrofitting a propane locker on my H35.5 was not a task I wanted to undertake and lose storage. We were lucky and found a company that converts vehicles to CNG for fleet use and supplies CNG for them. I called and they had the fittings to attach to my tank. My boat is a '92, so I had to run out and get my tank recertified, but then they refilled it with no problems. The other possiblity might be to inquire with your local natural gas utility and see if they have any depots, or can make a recommendation for you. You figure that if they are piping it out, they know who has it and could be potential suppliers.Good luck -T Jps - If you do consider changing to propane, let me know, I might take that CNG tank off your hands for you.
