Finding a new mainsail for a V32

I had the great experience on the first day back in the water of having the main sail on my Vision 32 literally rip all the way down first reef line for the full length of boom to mast. It happened when I was on a tack and a 25knot gust got the best of me. Does any one know of a good after market sailmaker or of someone who has a V32 main sail that they want to sell. Replies to neil@gosailng.biz Thanks, Neil

Get a new one

This site is a good start. A new sail means more drive, less heeling, and less weather helm! David Lady Lillie

Right here on HOW!!!

Don't skimp on one of the most important pieces of equipment on your boat! The oversize, full roach main on a Vision model is key to its performance. Look in the chandlery right here to find a main designed for your 32.

New Mainsail

I have an '89 Vision 32 and am in the midst of replacing my sails now. After checking around and doing a lot of research, I chose Mack Sails in Stewart Florida for my new sails. They had the right answers, construction and materials seem to be top notch, adders from other sailmakers were standard at Mack Sails, and they were very reasonable. I get the sails this week and can let you know what I think after a test sail. Check them out at macksails.com.

Can't wait to hear how the new main works out!

Mike- I just took a look at the Mack website and it does sound like they are folks who take real pride in their business. Not that folks at UK or anywhere else don't, but I do think it is different if you work for a corporation Vs. yourself, along with your father & brothers. Let us know how they work out and please publish the spec you used and what lead up to it...

Not there yet!

Just ordered a new foresail (jib) from UK. They went out and found a V32 and recommended a slightly larger sail (about 10% larger), They also measured everything from the '89 they found. I know it was probably a little more than I wanted to pay ($1,100), but with service like that, it is worth it. I have a '90 V32 on Lake Ontario.
