Find My iBoat!

My boat is sitting in a cradle in the marina. Nothing much more I can do but hope it doesn't float away. After seeing some photos of LBI this morning I still think it is possible.

Then I had an idea. Too late for this time but if there is a next time.

I will put my my old iPod on the boat and hook it up to the battery and leave it turned on.
Then I can use the Find My iPhone feature of iCloud to see if the boat floats around.
The Find My iPhone map isn't that accurate, it shows my phone is on the front sidewalk and my wife's is at the neighbors house, but it should show if my boat moves several feet or yards.

Is there a problem with on the hard boat theft in NJ? Or is this a hurricane thing?
Why not just get the yard to aim a camera at it? Put it on line streaming. Then you could watch as it gets "washed out to sea" by a big waive/ crane.
My guess is that any boat washed out from the hard will have allot of damage and be a write off. Wouldn't it be more likely to be washed in shore?

That OP clearly said -> "iPod" which he plans to use with the find my iPhone app. An "iPod" only works over wifi you cannot find an "iPod" unless it is connected to a wireless router.* iPads however when equipped with cellular via Verizon or AT&T will work with the find my iPhone app. Or find my friends app.

Just saying to remove any confusion. ie = iPods have no gps

Only a hurricane thing and the yard does not have cameras.

Good point, would need to convince the Admiral to donate her iPad. Well, no plan is perfect.
