Installed the plugs in the rails today.3/8 was too small, just fell down inside, 1/2 too big. I used my harry homeowner nut/bolt guide to draw a 7/16 circle on the end of the plugs, sand down to just outside the line holding the plugs against the belt sander, then hand finished sanding in the boat. I held the plug with vice grips and rubbed it against a sanding block. 8 times. .well, 10 counting 2 first test pieces. The blue tape protected the rails while sanding to curvature. A few drops of teak oil on each plug with Q tips (twice today, more tomorrow) made a pretty good looking match.
I`m not a woodworker by nature but I`m sure being dragged in kicking and screaming.
I`m hoping when the plugs get wet they will swell and tighten up some more.
