Finally getting into the refit of Oh Joy.

With the nice weather and having a crew of four, we really started getting things done on Oh Joy. I was working on one of the ports today, now that I finally got one out. Check out the 50 year old caulking.

Ya reckon they built the ports to withstand the sea?

Getting the 20 layers of bottom paint off so I can redo the barrier coat.

She looks solid and will be beautiful when she is done. Looks like a good performer too for her vintage. If I bought a boat like that my Wife would bounce me out of the house so far I'd hit the mailbox...and its the other side of our road!

Wow good luck. I have been belly aching about refitting a 1980 fiberglass boat, you have me beat in spades with the amount of projects to do.

It is a hell of a lot of fun though, unless the wind throws the last bit of Interlux Perfection across the yard when you are painting. My heart stopped for at least three minutes.

The yard has some tent hangers for spraying so I'll be using one for the hull topcoat. She performs really well for her age. She has been known to show her fanny to newer boats and run off and hide from them. She excels in a blow though.
