Actually Jim, most of us do.

Hi Jim, no disrespect here, however folks have been asking about these on a regular basis for quite a while. Generally the products list here for sale are prety good and relate to what we do. However if an ad for "Miracle tooth floss sticks" shows up I too would have a problem with it. Ya'll take care now! JAck

Doesn't sound like an ad

It didn't appear to be an ad to me.It just seemed that Alan finally recieved something that has been on backorder for a year. With the dock help available at some marinas the folks filling your tanks need all the help you can give them.I imagine that these work much like the ones for diesel fuel in older homes. The fuel coming in pushes air out and makes it whistle right? Then when it gets close to full it changes pitch.

has it right. Alan has been working on bringing this product to us for seems like 2 yrs. or so. It is like the "home heating system" whistles from the past and I understand that that was one of the problems. Someone felt like they had an exclusive or "patent" on the design. We'll see how this works out, but it is a greatly needed product in the marine industry.

Just ordered one!

I hope this works - I spill some fuel everytime I fill up. Alan - have you installed and used it yet?

For newbies,

Alan is the MANUFACTURER. Good news Alan. I have two of the old style. One of them doesn't work well anymore. You know what that means. :)

Sounds great but---

Do they work when pouring fuel from a gas can, through a water seperation funnel, into the tank? Fuel flows pretty slowly in this case so I wonder if they would whistle. By the way, I've managed to overfill even with this slow flow. I don't have a gage and it's a real PITA to close someone in the lazerette with a flashlight to monitor fuel level so it they will whistle with my filling proceedure, I'm in. Bill

That's a good question and one I have been asked before. I can tell you that with a very slow blowing with my mouth, the whistle sound is still quite evident. If your funnel sits completely in the fill neck I see no reason for it not to work. If you decide to buy and try and you find it doesn't work to your satisfaction, I will refund your money.

Alan, if I order two, can I get a break on the

shipping? I can't order 'till next month. We are leaving in about 5 days on the boat for a month. Life's tough.

A month?

What will become of the political forum? :) A note for those following this thread: This kind of post is outside of forum guidelines, but given Alan's contributions to the forum, the long wait for the product, and its environmental benefits, we're looking the other way. *zzz

Yes, multiple purchases are factored into the shipping to reduce the per piece cost.

I got a call from Alan today on this whistle.....

When we were discussing this whistle on this forum a while back, shortly after Katrina, I mentioned that I really wanted one, and was hoping Alan will let us know when it is ready. I have been busy and have not been getting on this forum to see the current thread on this. Well, I was taking my boat to the boat yard today, and while I was in the middle of Puget Sound, my cell rang and it was Alan. Thanks Alan. That is what I call customer service ! I just got home and just bought one online. Hey Fred: I will soon be ready to come over and play stereo. Of course, with you having 2, plus mine, I guess it will be tri-reo. ;d John
